I’ve been wrestling with an HP M4555 MFP printer/copier/fax for the past week. I got it unpacked on Wednesday or Thursday last week, configured the scanning, email and fax settings and it was working great. Four hours later, it died.
UPDATE: I’ve figured out the reason I’m getting the error and how to prevent it. read on.

I’ve been configuring and installing a couple dozen of the new Dell Latitude XT3 systems lately. For compatibility reasons, I’ve been using WindowsXP (yeah, I know).
