AA battery works for a C battery in a pinch
My children have quite a few toys that take batteries. Some take AAA, some AA, some C and one or two take 9V batteries. This weekend, one of the batteries in a toy needed replacing. It was a size C and unfortunately we had no extras. Rather than run to the store, I made do with a AA battery. Here’s how you can do it.
You’ll need a fresh AA battery and a paper towel from your kitchen.
Fold your paper towel in half four times. It should end up in a strip slightly shorter than your AA battery.
(see image to the left)
Wrap the paper towel very tightly around the battery, then tape the end down. Place the battery in the toy and be sure the ends still make contact. The usual precautions apply, don’t use it where the paper might get too hot. My son just needed
a battery for his train, and this worked nicely.
It won’t last as long as a C battery, but it will work if you need one quickly.
