I’ve had an interesting turn of events lately with search engine traffic. Generally, when I add pages or create a new site, I will upload a sitemap to Google, and link from another one of my sites. Google usually has the site indexed within hours and cached within a day. From then on, Google is pretty much the largest source of traffic. Read the rest of this entry »

Kensington provides exceptional service

An acquaintance purchased a Kensington mobile power adapter to power his laptop. The Model 33404 costs about $90, supports several types of laptop and comes equipped with multiple tips to adapt as needed. One of the tips (specifically tip “e”) worked ok for a few months, then just quit.

recover deleted folders in Outlook Express

If you have accidentally deleted a folder inside your Inbox in Outlook Express, but still have a backup of the DBX files, It isn’t too hard to recover the folder. You’ll notice just copying the DBX file back into your Outlook Express Identities folder doesn’t resolve it. Read the rest of this entry »

PDair aluminum case for Nokia e62

When our family got a second cell phone line, I got a Nokia e62 pda/phone for my number. For some reason, pda/phones usually suffer in phone audio quality. Several of the Blackberry series suffer from this, but fortunately, I found the e62’s sound quality to be outstanding.

I like to collect old software and I every now and then I find something interesting. Last year, it was Wing Commander on 5.25in. floppies. I still have a pretty old version of BattleChess floating around somewhere. I still have a TRS-80 portable and all its software I have to dig through. VMware ThinApp makes software installs easy

If you are a network admin and have to deploy custom software packages, you know how complicated it can be, depending on the package.

VMware recently purchased Thinstall and has updated it, and sells it as ThinApp. ThinApp allows you to install a software package onto one PC, and compile everything the software needs to run into one executable file. Read the rest of this entry »
