conserve water by mending your hose
I hate to throw things away but was really getting annoyed at various water hoses I had purchased at a local hardware store. They were on sale and were extremely cheap, but were getting expensive by leaking at the fittings where they went together. We have a well, but I figured we were wasting gallons of water each time we used our hoses.
I checked the hoses that didn’t leak and compared them to hoses that were leaking. The hoses that were leaking didn’t have a small rubber gasket that was present on the others. Your local hardware store sells these gaskets for about a dime each, usually in packs of ten. After installing them, the leaks vanished. Here’s what to look for when heading to the store.
