quick tip to speed up windows xp even more

15 April, 2008 (06:23) | tips | By: bbowers

Windows XP runs pretty fast on even two or three year old hardware. If you don’t have the newest equipment, there are two things you can modify to make Windows run even faster and you won’t notice anything but an increase in the speed. No registry editing needed, no software to download and it will take less than two minutes to complete.

Right-click your desktop and click Properties.

Click the Appearance tab and then click the Effects button.

Uncheck the following two boxes

  • “Use the following transition effects for menus and tooltips”
  • “Show shadows under menus “

Click OK on each open window and you’ll notice an instant speed increase in your desktop experience. Chances are you won’t even notice the difference in appearance by turning these off, but it will cut the processor/graphics overhead of displaying menus.
