massive botnet twice the size of storm
A new botnet has been discovered by botnet researchers at Damballa. It’s named Kraken and it’s victims include 50 of the Fortune 500. Early results show the malware arriving as an image that’s filename ends in “.exe” but that executable extension is hidden from the user.
80% of infections are getting by antivirus software and the single botnet nodes are sending up to 500,000 spam emails a day.
