fix windows XP service pack 2 limitations
WindowsXP SP2 added a limitation to the number of “half-open” outgoing connections that can be opened in one second. Supposedly, the “feature” was added to limit the speed at which viruses can spread on a network. Unfortunately, it causes other apps to not work as they should. This topic has been covered elsewhere before, but if you have recently rebuilt your system, it may affect you again.
If you use any type of filesharing application, such as a flavor of bittorrent or limewire, you’ll be affected by this limitation. You won’t be able to connect to as many peers nearly as quickly. There is an automated patcher available to remove the limitation and let you decide how many outgoing connections you want available in a second. The limit with SP2 is 10, and if you want to change it, I would suggest setting it to 100 or so. LvlLord has a free tool to change it. Just run the exe and follow the prompts.
