Youtube is opening its APIs for website developers to use on their own sites, the company revealed yesterday.

This release will allow other websites not only to incorporate youtube videos into their site, but also to upload new video to youtube. Localized standard feeds such as most-viewed videos and top-rated videos; and add titles, descriptions and comments to videos can all be grabbed by other websites to tailor video selections to their website audience.

Another important feature that will be heavily used is the fact that users on other sites can login to youtube, without ever leaving the site they’re viewing. The player can also be customized to make it better fit the surrounding website content.
